RETROLITE FLUORESCENT LAMP (Other Products)
Unique variable intensity fluorescent lamp (CFL) with screw

This 15-watt CFLs IV works with almost every variable intensity produced from 1996. The LEVITON IPI-10 has been extensively tested and can fall to 10% intensity without flicker or change of color.

Installation guidelines
  • Fixture sockets into which lamps will be installed should not be corroded or dirt encrusted. These conditions cause high electrical resistance and could affect lamp performance. It is critical that the screw shells in these fixtures be made of nickel plated brass or copper. Aluminum screw shells should never be used in poultry houses because the ammonia gas created from the bird waste will react to cause corrosion. This is a major reason that compact fluorescent lamps, which have electronic circuitry, fail prematurely.
  • The grower must use an approved dimmer. The dimmers that have passed the field tests are listed in the website. Many dimmers will NOT perform properly.
  • The 15 watt dimmable CFL dims slightly lower than the 23 watt dim CFL. Also, neither the 15 nor the 23 watt dim CFL will give a 3.0 f.c level floor light for the growers 'bonus pay'. Therefore, the best approach is to use the 15 watt model for dimming and use the Retrolite 2L adapter for brooding. This 2L and application is also listed in the website. This lowers the costing by eliminating any supplemental lighting rows, extra sockets and etc.
  • Burn the dimmable CFL's for 24 hours minimum at full level prior to dimming.
  • WHEN DIMMING TO GET THE MINIMUM LEVEL, USE A CALIBRATED LIGHT METER. EYEBALLING THE LIGHT LEVEL JUST CREATS PROBLEMS BECAUSE GENERALLY YOU ARE ATTEMPTING TO DIM FAR TOO LOW.
